Every year around Mother’s Day, I see a lot of photographers offering “Mommy and Me” mini sessions. They're typically photoshoots focused on moms with young children like toddlers sitting on laps, babies in arms, and sweet smiles for the camera. Those moments are beautiful and meaningful, and as a mom of three littles myself, this is absolutely a time in my life I cherish and want to remember. But every time I see sessions like this being offered, I can't help but think about all the women who see those beautiful toddler sessions and immediately think, "Well that's not me. "
So this year, I felt called to do something different.
Instead of offering traditional Mommy and Me minis, I’m offering Motherhood Is an Energy sessions: a space created to honor the nurturing, life-giving energy that women carry in every stage of life. Because motherhood isn’t just a moment in time when your kids are little. And it isn’t something that belongs only to women currently raising small children. Motherhood is something deeper.
Motherhood Exists In Every Stage Of A Woman's Life
Motherhood lives in the quiet strength of women who have raised children and now watch their grandchildren grow. It lives in mothers navigating the complicated, emotional teenage years. It lives in women currently growing life inside them. Every stage carries its own joys and its own difficulties.
The exhaustion of early motherhood.
The emotional complexity of raising teenagers.
The bittersweet transition of watching children leave home.
The quiet pride of becoming a grandmother.
Too often, Mother’s Day imagery focuses only on the early years of young motherhood, but the truth is that motherhood evolves throughout a woman’s entire life. And I strongly believe that each stage deserves to be seen and honored.

Honoring The Many Paths Of Motherhood
Not every motherhood story looks the same. Some women have experienced miscarriage or pregnancy loss. Some have longed for children but haven’t been able to have them. Some build their families through adoption. Others pour their nurturing energy into nieces, nephews, students, communities, and friendships. And even young girls carry the beginning of that energy.
One of the most fascinating truths about the female body that I learned years ago and has always stuck with me, is that girls are born with all the eggs they will ever have. From the moment a girl is born, she carries the possibility of future generations within her. In a way, women carry three generations inside of them from the very beginning.
That is powerful! It’s a reminder that nurturing energy that women inherently hold isn’t confined to one role or one stage of life.
Why These Sessions Are Different
My Motherhood Is an Energy sessions are designed to celebrate women in all stages of life, not just mothers with toddlers. These sessions are for mothers with young children, women raising teenagers, grandmothers watching their families grow, women honoring their fertility and strength, and women whose journeys have included loss. They are even for teenage girls who are stepping into the beginning of their womanhood.
This isn’t about perfectly posed portraits or fitting motherhood into a narrow box. It’s about honoring the strength, softness, resilience, and nurturing energy that women carry through every season of life.
Because motherhood isn’t just a role.
It’s an energy.

Let's honor your motherhood energy
